在托福写作中，高分作文都是有一个共同的特点，那就是正确的运用了英语。那怎样才算是正确的运用了英语呢?下面就和小编一起来看看吧!
一、当三个以上的词并列时，除了最后一个词外，其他间用逗号隔幵。
例如：
Red, white, and green
Honest, energetic, but headstrong
He opened the letter, read it, and made a note of its content.
二、逗号之间放插入句。
因为常常很难确定一个短语或者句子是否是插入语，所以这个规则应用起来很难。如果断开对句子的语流影响非常轻微，那么可以安全的省略逗号。然而，无论这种断开是轻微的还是重大的，决不能省略一个逗号而保留另一个逗号。
三、非限定性定语从句用逗号隔开
The audience, which had at first been indifferent, became more and more interested.
四、限定性定语从句不能用逗号隔开
The candidate who best meet these requirements will obtain the place.
五、不要用逗号连接独立从句;如早想把语法上意思上完整,且不用连词连接的两个或两个以上的从句组成一个并列句，正确的标点符号应该是分号。
Peter's stories arc entertaining; they are full of exciting adventures.
Peter's stories arc entertaining, for they are full of exciting adventures.
I had never been in the place before so I had difficulty in finding my way about.
如果第二个从句之前是一个副词，如before , accordingly , besides, then therefore 或是 thus ,而不是连词，仍然使用分号。
Mon proposes, God disposes.
The gate swung apart, the bridge foil, the portcullis was drawn up.
如果几个从句都很短，句式结构也很相似，常允许使用逗号隔开。
谨记：不要把逗号当句号使用。
六、放在句首的分词必须和句子的主语保持一致。
Walking slowly down the road, he sow woman accompanied by two children.
He saw a woman, accompanied by two children, walking slowly down the road.
七、以连词和介词开始的分词短语，同位语名词，形容词短语也必须和主语保持一致。
On arriving in Chicago，his friends met him at the station.这个句子是错误的
When he arrived (or, on his arrival) Chicago, his friends met him at the station.这个句子是正确的。
八、如果想大力突出某个词或者词组，最好将其置于句尾。
Humanity has hardly advanced in fortitude since that time, although it has advanced in many other ways.
自那时起，人类在坚韧上就毫无建树，尽量在许多方面取得进展。
九、句首是句子中另外一个显著位置。除了主语，句子中的任何成分被放在句首时，都可以得到加强。
Deceit or treachery he could never forgive.
